Two Feet Down 〰️

Brownsville is one of the most talked-about neighborhoods in New York City, and one of the least visited. It’s often described through violent statistics and headlines, but rarely through the people who hold it together every day.

Brownsville is also a place where over $1 billion moves through corner stores every year, where families have lived for generations, and where care is practiced quietly, rides given, food shared, people looked after without paperwork or praise.

When we say Two Feet Down, we mean what Brownsville taught us: love shows up. Love waits. Love feeds you before you ask. Love doesn’t perform for cameras.

One night, standing on the corner, we were asked how we felt. The honest answer was loved. And everyone nodded, because Brownsville knows that feeling. That’s the part most people never see.

What we want more of isn’t just donations or purchases, though those help. What matters most is presence. People willing to show up in neighborhoods they’ve been taught to fear. Not to fix. Not to teach. Just to be with.

We’re excited when people pull up. When they invite us into their communities. When we’re on the corner, in the store, at the table, together. That’s where the work becomes real.

The easiest way to stay connected is through our newsletter and Instagram.

That’s where we share when we’re gathering, moving through neighborhoods, or opening space in real life.
